For general enquiry related to positions in the Lab:

Please send your CV (restrict to 2 pg + research interest). I do not reply to the mails that do not strictly adhere to the above instructions (number of pages in CVs and mails without research interest) and only reply to those mails where there is an interest from our side. If you do not get a reply within 7 days of sending the email, consider that there is no interest from our side. There is no need to send the same e-mail twice.

For advertised positions:

Project positions are funded by extramural research grants and are temporary in nature. All open positions are advertised on the University website (https://www.jnu.ac.in/career under Current Project). Selection is done through shortlisting followed by personal interview by a committee of experts. For open positions, please follow the instructions provided in the advertisement.

If you are interested in the lab, read the general information on various positions below.

Post-Doctoral Researchers

Most post-doctoral positions in the lab are funded through extramural grants and are advertised openly. If you are interested in a post-doctoral research position in the lab, you need to respond to a specific advertisement. If you have your own fellowship that will pay towards your salary or wants the lab to host you for an independent post-doctoral position, please e-mail with the subject line Postdoctoral Fellowship. Send your detailed CV, a research proposal (in case you are interested for an independent post-doctoral position with a proposed fellowship that will cover your salary), and names and e-mails of 3 academic referees.

Ph.D. positons/studentship

I shall have several Ph.D. openings in the lab this year (year 2021). In order to join the Ph.D. course, you need to qualify in the All-India entrance examination that the University conducts, called JNU Entrance Examination (JNUEE), and personal interview. Students with NET+JRF (Junior Research Fellowship of UGC/CSIR/DBT/ICMR and National Eligibility Test, those who qualified for the NET Lectureship are not eligible for interview) are shortlisted for the interview without appearing in the JNUEE. Choose "School of Biotechnology" option when applying for the Ph.D. program and follow the instructions provided at the University website for details.

If you are interested in the Ph.D. program and would like to choose our lab, send an e-mail with your CV (maximum two pages), one page of research interest, and why you want to join our lab with the subject line Ph.D. studentship/JRF. Even if we select you as a Ph.D. student, you still need to pass the JNUEE test (in the case of non-NET/JRF candidates) and/or the interview. Avoid jargons while writing and be to the point.

The Ph.D. intake for the year 2021 will be mostly in one of these areas: Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biological Image Analysis, Integrated Analysis of Disease Data, and Cancer Genomics. If you think that you have the skills and past experience on these fields, follow the instructions above and apply.
